The Old Town 50 pounder is somewhat of an industrial accident. In addition to the expected varnish, paint, and bedding compound I’m fighting against huge copper tacks, silicone, and latex caulking that were used to reattach the old canvas before coating the exterior with epoxy. Time to break out the heat gun. The skin came off the hull relatively easily but the rails came off will all kinds of crud firmly attached.
If the rails weren’t mahogany and in decent shape they’d be burning.
